The Kitchen Shop (Poppy’s) has been established for 41 years (42 in November 22) and Marion worked for the previous owners and bought the lease from them in 2018.
Since then of course Covid struck and whilst in lockdown we reconfigured the layout of the shop and renamed it “POPPYS” (after our much photographed little cockapoo) but we are The Kitchen Shop T/A POPPYS.

Torbay Gin - James Guthrie
Torbay Gin” – instantly recognizable by its signature blue colour is an IWSC award-winning gin, which is championed locally by the likes of The Cary Arms, The Hampton By Hilton, Headand Hotel, Lincombe Hall and Bovey Castle to name but a few.
We are widely stocked in all good farm shops like Occombe, Churston, Ullacombe and Greendale.
We also greatly value our trade relationship with Bays Brewery and Tolchards who are constantly introducing the gin into new venues over and above the likes of Offshore and Below Decks.
Our blue colour comes from the Butterfly Blue Pea Flower. It being slightly alkaline, it then gin changes colour to pink when you add your mixer.
The gin itself is super smooth at 42 % and many of our customers drink it simply as a sipping gin over ice whereas others still favour mixing it with a premium mixer like Fever Tree or Double Dutch
